Wayne Andrews is a forward who joined Rovers on loan in March 2008 from Championship side Coventry City. His first game was the local derby against Yeovil Town on March 29th 2008, however his debut was to last just 17 minutes after he was stretched off with suspected ligament damage to his right knee. The injury is similar to that suffered by Steve Elliott against Fulham in the FA Cup in January 2008.

Andrews started his career with Watford in 1994 where he stayed until 1999 (being loaned out to Cambridge United in 1998 and Peterborough United in 1999). He then moved to non-league side St. Albans City before being given the chance to resurrect his career by Iain Dowie at Oldham Athletic. He spent the 2002/03 season with the Manchester club before he signed for Colchester United, again spending just one season at the club.

Iain Dowie again signed Andrews, this time for Crystal Palace who had recently been promoted to the Premier League. He struggled at the club, making few League appearances and he moved on to Coventry City in 2006. Later that year he joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan and in 2007 he joined Bristol City again on loan.

He continued to find his first team chances limited at Coventry and was loaned out for the fifth time in his career, this time to League One side Leeds United. After making just one appearance with the Yorkside club, he returned to Coventry but was told his contract would not be renewed and he would be forced to look for a new club in the summer.

Andrews trained with Rovers during pre-season 2008-09 and was expected to sign for the club should he regain fitness. After a spell rehabilitating at Lilleshall however he was not signed by the Pirates. He eventually found himself a club for the 2008-09 season however when he signed a short-term deal with Luton Town on 17 October. Him time at Luton was not successful however, and after playing ten games in all competitions without scoring a single goal he was released at the end of his contract in January 2009.

Following his release from Luton, Wayne had a trial with Yeovil Town, the club where he injured his knee the previous season. The management of the club felt that he was lacking in match fitness however, and he was not offered a contract. He then spent some time training with Leyton Orient before returning to Yeovil for a second trial period.
