Tom Hitchcock is a striker joined Rovers on a month's loan on new year's day 2013.

After joining he immediately went into the starting lineup, playing as a lone front man for his first two games, before lining up alongside Eliot Richards in his third match. He played three times without scoring in his initial month-long stay, but manager John Ward saw enough in him to extend the loan deal until the end of the season.

By the end of the campaign he had scored three times in seventeen appearances, all three goals coming in the final four games of the season.

Tom is the son of former Chelsea, Mansfield Town and Northampton Town goalkeeper Kevin Hitchcock.

Career[]

Tom played youth and reserve football for Blackburn Rovers, though never made the breakthrough into their first team, his debut in senior football coming when he was sent out on loan to Plymouth Argyle at the beginning of the 2011–12 season. He made eight league appearances for The Pilgrims, as well as playing once in each of the League Cup and Football League Trophy.

He left Blackburn in February 2012, when both parties agreed to the termination of his contract, leaving him free to join Queens Park Rangers a month later. He had yet to make a first team appearance for QPR when he was loaned to Rovers in January 2013.
