Tom Godsell is a defender who came through the Rovers' youth system, which at the time was based at the Bristol Academy of Sport. He was one of seven players promoted to the first team squad in the 2007 off-season, along with Charlie Clough, Matt Groves, Alex Kite, Adam Mahdi, Ryan Paddock and Charlie Reece.

He was released from the club on expiry of his contract at the end of the 2007-08 season, along with Ryan Paddock, Sammy Igoe and Chris Carruthers without ever having made any first team appearances.

CareerEdit

In the summer of 2008 he joined Chippenham Town for a trial period but was unlucky enough to score an own goal on his debut, a friendly against Swindon Town which ended in a 4-1 defeat for the Bluebirds, and was not offered a contract. He eventually joined Brislington for the 2008–09 season, and he continued to play for the club the following season before moving to Chipping Sodbury Town in 2010. He stayed with Chipping Sodbury for a year and returned to Bris in 2011.
