Steve Elliott is a defender who joined Rovers in the summer of 2004 on a free transfer from Blackpool. Since joining he has been firmly established as a member of the starting lineup, however an injury picked up in the FA Cup third round replay against Fulham in January 2008 sidelined him for a sizable portion of the 2007-08 season.

He was released in the summer of 2010, after having spent six years with the club and having made 218 League appearances. He went on to join League Two side Cheltenham Town.

Steve began his career as a trainee with Derby County, with whom he made his first team debut in the League Cup in 1997. He made 72 league appearances for the Rams before moving to Blackpool in 2003, firstly on loan, and then as a permanent transfer. The following year he made the move to the Memorial Stadium, where he remained until 2010.

Steve has played two competitive matches against Bristol Rovers, both of which ended in defeat for The Gas.

His first appearance as an opposition player was in a 3–1 win for Cheltenham Town at the Mem in October 2011, and he was again on the winning side almost exactly a year later, when a Chris Zebroski goal sealed a 1–0 victory for the Robins in October 2012. He was also an unused substitute for Derby County when Rovers beat them 3–1 in the FA Cup in 2002.
