Ross Weare was a forward who signed for Rovers in 2001. He was brought from Queens Park Rangers by former manager Gerry Francis, who had seen enough of him at the London club to think he could do a job for Rovers. Unfortunately he suffered from back problems which forced his premature retirement at the end of his first season with the Pirates.

Ross's career was a brief one, with his back trouble forcing his retirement at the age of 25. He began his career with QPR and spent three seasons with the first team squad there before joining Rovers in 2001 after having made only four league appearances. He went on to make ten league appearances for Rovers, and thirteen in all competitions, scoring just a single goal.
