The Bristol Rovers Player of the Month was a short-lived award created at the start of 2012 and awarded just three times before being dropped. The first winner of the title was Aaron Downes, and he was followed by Michael Poke and Danny Woodards who picked up the accolade for February and March respectively. The purpose of the award was to recognise the club's most influential player over the previous four weeks, and the winner was voted for by the fans.
The award became known among fans as something of a curse, with both Downes and Poke suffering serious injuries immediately after winning the title. Although Woodards didn't immediately fall victim to the hoodoo, he went on to break his leg in the final game of the season a month later.
