Matt Thorne is a midfielder who didn't make any first team appearances for Rovers. He joined the squad at the start of the 2005-06 season, and remained with the team for a year, during which time he was loaned out to Taunton Town, before being released.

After being released by Rovers he signed for Taunton, then Bristol Manor Farm, where he remained for just under two years. In the summer of 2008 he joined Team Bath, and was sent out on loan to Cirencester Town early in the 2008-09 season, where he played alongside on-loan Rovers player Adam Mahdi and former Gas forward Julian Alsop.

In 2009 Team Bath was dissolved due to restrictions put on their progress in the league system and Matt found himself without a club. He signed for Weymouth in the summer of 2009, and after making a handful of appearances was released at the end of August to make room in their squad for new players. He signed for Clevedon Town in July 2010, then moved to Almondsbury Town and made two appearances for DRG Stapleton near the end of the season. He joined Bridgwater Town in time for the 2011–12 season but by November had moved on again, returning to one of his former clubs Clevedon Town.
