Jamie Shore was a midfielder who joined Rovers from Norwich City in the summer of 1998, and spent four years with the Pirates. His time with Rovers was blighted by serious knee problems, and he went under the knife a number of times. His knee trouble eventually brought a premature end to his career, and although he tried making a comeback in the non-league game, he eventually made the decision to hang up his boots for good.
After giving up the professional game, Jamie made a number off appearances as an expert summariser in BBC Radio Bristol football commentaries, and he also opened Jamie Shore Soccer International, a soccer school providing training for local youngsters.
All of Jamie's first team appearances for Rovers came in the 1998-99 season, when he played in 24 league games (starting 18 and coming off the bench six times), scoring twice. He also played in four FA Cup matches and one Football League Trophy game, scoring twice in the cup and once in the trophy.
Jamie's first senior club was Norwich City, who he joined at the age of 12. He was very highly regarded throughout his progression through the Norwich youth system, and he was awarded his first professional contract on his seventeenth birthday, in 1994. Unfortunately for him, he suffered a knee injury in a South-East Counties youth game against Arsenal just five weeks after signing for the Canaries.
After an injury-plagued four years as a professional with Norwich, during which time he did not make any first team appearances, he signed for Bristol Rovers in 1998. His time at Rovers was dogged by injury just as much as his time in Norwich, and after a number of surgeries on his knee he eventually decided to call time on his career. He later made comebacks for Brislington and Mangotsfield United, but this was short lived and he was forced to give up the game for good.
