F Final

The Football League Trophy (currently Johnstone's Paint Trophy for sponsorship reasons) is a cup competition for teams in the lowest two divisions of the Football League. Rovers have reached the final twice (in 1990 and 2007) but lost on both occasions. However, on both occasions that Rovers have reached the final, they have also been promoted.

Unlike most other cup competitions, the Football League Trophy is run geographically to ensure there are more local derby's in the competition and thus attempt to improve attendances in what is usually seen as a low priority competition to fans and clubs.
