On Sunday April 1st 2007, Bristol Rovers played Doncaster Rovers in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final at The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Bristol Rovers vs Doncaster Rovers[]
Before this game, Rovers goalkeeper Steve Phillips had kept a clean sheet in all six previous games in the competition. His hopes of keeping a clean sheet in all rounds of the competition were dashed after just 49 seconds when Jonathan Forte put Doncaster ahead. When ex-Bristol City and future Rovers striker Paul Heffernan put Donny 2-0 up after 5 minutes many thought Rovers were in for a big defeat. However, an inspired comeback in the second half saw Richard Walker and Sammy Igoe level the game for the Gas. Doncaster captain Graeme Lee dashed Rovers' hopes in extra time.
