Aaron Lescott is a former defender who initially joined Rovers on loan from Stockport County at the end of the 2003-04 season, before making the move permanent in August 2004. He competed with Ryan Green for the right-back position, but a lengthy spell out injured by Green allowed Aaron to claim the right-hand side of defence as his own. Prior to the Green injury Aaron played on the left side of the back four, and he returned to that side of the pitch following the arrival of Carl Regan at the club in 2009, who was a right-sided defender.
Lescott was the regular first choice left-back for the first half of the 2009-10 season, but after a spell out injured was unable to regain his place in the team, resulting in him being sent out on loan to Cheltenham Town until the end of the campaign in order for him to maintain his match fitness. When he returned to Bristol however he was surplus to requirements and he was released at the end of his contract in 2010.
Aaron is the brother of England international Jolien Lescott.
Career[]
Aaron's career began as a trainee with his local side, Aston Villa. After making just one single FA Cup appearance for the Villains he was sent out on loan to Lincoln City in 2000 and then left Villa to join Sheffield Wednesday in October of the same year for a fee of £100,000. He made 37 league appearances for the Owls before making the move to Stockport County for £75,000 a year later, for whom he played in 72 league games, scoring a single goal.
In March 2004 he joined Bristol Rovers on loan until the end of the season, making the move permanent that summer when he joined on a free transfer. He made over 200 League appearances for The Pirates before being released and joining Walsall in 2010. He stayed with The Saddlers for just a single season and was again released, this time dropping out of league football to join Southern League side Halesowen Town. He decided to retire from football after making just 5 appearances for Halesowen, all in August 2011, and work on the clothing label Lescott Stewart, which he founded with his brother Jolien and former Rovers loanee Jordan Stewart.
