Rovers finally picked up their first win of the 2012–13 season in this League Two clash with Exeter City, in what was their tenth game of the campaign, and their eighth in the league.

Manager Mark McGhee expressed his relief after the final whistle to have finally picked up three points and move out of the relegation spots at the bottom of the table. Substitute Eliot Richards scored the winner with a fine individual effort, after David Clarkson had given Rovers and early lead and ex-Gas man Jamie Cureton had equalised for The Grecians.

The Exeter squad featured four former Pirates, with Cureton, Pat Baldwin and Danny Coles in the starting eleven and goalkeeper Rhys Evans on the bench. Rovers, meanwhile, handed debuts to their two recent signings Derek Riordan and Tom Eaves.
