Elliott Ward is a defender who was loaned to Rovers by West Ham United at the end of 2004. He played just three games for Rovers during his one-month loan spell, a period during which he celebrated his twentieth birthday. All three of his appearances for Rovers were from the bench.

CareerEdit

Elliott was a youth player with West Ham, and graduated to their professional squad in 2001. He was sent out on loan to Peterborough United at the start of the 2004-05 season, but didn't play any matches for the Posh during this spell. His senior debut came in the 2004-05 League Cup, where he played for the Hammers against Southend United. Shortly after this he joined Bristol Rovers for a one month loan, where he played in his first Football League game. A further loan spell followed the next season at Plymouth Argyle, where he spent six months and played sixteen league games, scoring the first goal of his career.

In the summer of 2006 Coventry City paid West Ham £1,000,000 to bring Ward to the Ricoh Arena, and he immediately established himself as a first-team regular with the Sky Blues. He found himself frozen out of the team during the 2009–10 season however, and was sent out on loan to Doncaster Rovers and Preston North End, before being released and signing for Norwich City in the summer of 2010.

Elliott played a major part in The Canaries' promotion from the Championship in the 2010–11 season, but his playing time in the Premier League was limited to just twelve games in 2011–12 and none at all during the following campaign. He had two loan periods with Nottingham Forest during 2012–13, making twelve Championship appearances in his first spell, then playing 19 times and scoring three goals in a second stint that began just a few days after the first one had ended.
