Darryl Duffy is a Forward who joined Rovers on 3 July 2008. His fee was undisclosed but is reported to be in the region of £100,000. His career at Rovers got off to a quick start, scoring three times in his first five games, but his scoring rate dropped off significantly after that, culminating in him netting just three times in 30 league appearances during the 2009–10 season. He spent the vast majority of the following year on loan to Hibernian, but injury problems limited his appearances. He was released by Rovers in the summer of 2011, whereupon he signed a two-year deal with Cheltenham Town.

Although he doesn't have any full international caps, he has been capped twice at 'B' level by Scotland.

Career[]

Duffy's career started at his hometown club Rangers as a youth. He made his debut as a late substitute in a 6-0 win against Forfar Athletic but would go on to make just two more substitute appearances, against Dundee United and Panathinaikos, before initially going out on loan to Brechin City, and then joining Falkirk on a free transfer. After winning promotion in his first season, he moved south of the border in the winter transfer window to join Hull City.

He found first team chances at Hull to be limited and was loaned out to Hartlepool and Swansea City during the 2006-07 season. He scored an impressive five goals in eight appearances whilst in Wales and he went on to sign permanently for £200,000 but failed to repeat his form again.

After just one full season at Swansea, he signed for Rovers in an attempt to achieve regular first team football. He scored his first goals for his new club in a 6-1 win over Hereford United early in the 2008-09 season. The next year he found goals harder to come by, and when Rovers signed Doncaster Rovers striker Paul Heffernan on loan, there was no place for Duffy in the team. He joined Carlisle United initially for a month, but later extended to the end of the season, but was recalled to the Memorial Stadium on 4 April 2010 when Doncaster requested the return of Heffernan.

Early in the 2010-11 season, Duffy was told he was free to leave Rovers and went on to join Hibernian on loan until the end of the season, taking him up to the expiry of his contract in Bristol. After being released by Rovers in the summer of 2011 he joined Cheltenham Town on a two-year deal.
