Daniel Jones joined Rovers on Valentine's Day 2010 on loan from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers in an effort to provide cover at the full back positions. After playing six games at left back his loan deal was extended to the end of the 2009-10 season. He had earned much praise during the first part of his stint for his ability to get forward and link up with Jeff Hughes on the left side of midfield.
Career[]
Daniel joined Wolves when he was ten years old, and he progressed through the youth ranks at the Molineux club and graduated to the senior ranks in 2005 at the age of 18. He found chances to play for the first team few and far between however, and was sent out on loan to a number of clubs, starting with Northampton Town in 2007. He made 33 League appearances for the Cobblers and then went on to play a total of 23 League games in two separate spells with Oldham Athletic punctuated by a knee injury, scoring once. Another loan spell followed during the 2009-10 season, when he joined Notts County, and later on in the same campaign he moved to Bristol to join Rovers.
After the expiry of his loan spell in Bristol he was released by Wolves and joined Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer, signing a three-year deal with the Yorkshire club. He never really established himself as a first choice player with the Owls, his progress not helped by a number of injuries, and he was released from his contract by mutual consent in January 2013. He immediately signed for League Two side Port Vale on a short-term contract, and he scored on his debut for them; a 2–2 draw with AFC Wimbledon on 24 January 2013.
Clearly impressed with his efforts, the Valiants rewarded him with a two-year contract in time for the start of the 2013–14 season.
