On 2 March 2010, Rovers took on Stockport County at home on the back of a 3-2 win over Colchester in their last fixture. The match was originally scheduelled for 9 January, but it was called off due to a frozen pitch.
Paul Trollope named an unchanged outfield side, while Rhys Evans replaced Mikkel Andersen in goal due to Andersen being on international duty. The Stockport bench featured former Rovers loanee Richie Partridge, who played six games for The Gas in 2001.
Rovers won the match 1-0, thanks to a Jeff Hughes strike on the half hour. Stockport were reduced to ten men in stoppage time, when David Poole recieved his second yellow card of the night. The win reduced the deficit from sixth place to ten points with a game in hand.
