Career[]

Bill started out playing for his home town club, Broxburn United, in the Scottish Second Division, before being picked up by Tottenham Hotspur in 1923. He played twelve times in the league for Spurs and seven times for Brentford between 1930 and 1932, then had his single game for Rovers and rounded his career off by playing seven times for Aldershot during the 1933–34 season.

Most of his career in England was spent playing reserve team football; he made a total of just 27 Football League appearances in his eleven years playing south of the border.
