Ben Willshire is a defender who joined Rovers when he was just seven years old. He progressed through the youth ranks at the club, finally earning a pro contract in the summer of 2005. He didn't make any appearances for the first team however, and after a year as a pro was released by the club.
Ben spent approximately thirteen years as Rovers player, but only one of those in the first team squad. On his release at the end of the 2005-06 season he joined Taunton Town for a year, and then in 2007 he moved up two divisions when he signed for Weston-super-Mare in the Conference South. In the summer of 2008 he signed a new two-year deal with the Seagulls, but in spite of this he was released at the end of the 2008-09 season having made 38 appearances for them in two years. He joined Hallen for the 2009–10 season, where he played 34 games in the Western League, and a further twelve in cup competitions, scoring three goals.
He spent the following year at Almondsbury Town, where things started on a high after the club had been promoted into the Southern League for the first time in its history, but they turned sour later on when The Almonds announced that they were withdrawing from the league and disbanding their first team in the summer of 2011. He played alongside a number of former Rovers youth players during the 2010–11 season, including Adam Mahdi and Joe White.
After Almondsbury dissolved their first team in 2011 he returned to Hallen for the duration of the 2011–12 season.
Record against RoversEdit
