Paul Buckle's tenure as Bristol Rovers manager ended when The Pirates fell to a 2–0 defeat to Barnet, the club's fourth consecutive loss. It had been over two months since Rovers had lost won a game, and the team had become perilously close to the League Two relegation zone, resulting in the board deciding to relieve him of his duties.

The game itself saw Rovers debuts for loanees Michael Poke and Aaron Downes, while former Gas man Danny Senda was in the Barnet lineup. After a goalless first half, Izale McLeod and Clovis Kamdjo both scored to give The Bees a 2–0 victory, their first even home win against Rovers. It was only the second time The Pirates had ever lost to Barnet, both defeats coming during the 2011–12 season.
