Arsenal (formerly known as Woolwich Arsenal) and Bristol Rovers have met five times in competitive competition, all of which were cup matches. They have played three times in the FA Cup and twice in the League Cup, and Arsenal have won all but one of the games. The only match that the Gunners failed to win was a League Cup second round, second leg game which was drawn 1-1 at Eastville, after Arsenal had won the first leg 4-0.

In addition to these, former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson was lined up as emergency goalkeeping cover for Rovers on a non-contract basis, but never played for the club. Bill Dodgin Jr, son of former Rovers player and manager Bill Dodgin, Sr. also played for Arsenal. Ex-Rovers loanee Sam Oji started out with the Arsenal youth system, but failed to earn a pro contract at the club.
