Andy Williams is a forward who joined Rovers from Hereford in the summer of 2007, and stayed at the club for three years until leaving to join Yeovil Town in the summer of 2010.

Career[]

Andy's only club prior to joining the Pirates was Hereford United, with whom he played as a youth player before making the step up to first-team level in 2004. He remained at Edgar Street until July 2007, when he signed for Rovers. His first season at the club started brightly, scoring on his début against Port Vale and a splendid goal in the Carling Cup against West Ham. However, goals were hard to come by as the season went on.

He again scored to start the season, this time against Carlisle United. He was loaned out a few weeks later, to former club Hereford where he remained until the end of the season, although he was recalled in January sparking rumours that Rovers had accepted a bid for top scorer Rickie Lambert. The rumours proved untrue and Williams returned to Hereford a day later.

He was transfer listed ahead of the 2009-10 season, but his performances in training and on the pitch, coupled with the funds raised by the sale of Rickie Lambert to Southampton, meant that he was removed from the transfer list and found himself playing regular football again by October 2009. As his contract was coming to an end in 2010, he was offered a one-year deal to stay at the Memorial Stadium, but instead he opted for the relative security of a two-year contract that had been offered by Yeovil Town.

After a solid first year with The Glovers, he had an excellent second campaign, which saw him win the club's Player of the Year award and end the season as Yeovil's top goalscorer. Despite being offered a new contract, he rejected the deal, opting instead to try and find a new club elsewhere, eventually signing with Swindon Town.
