The number 29 was not generally used in English league football until the introduction of squad numbers into the club game. This was initially done by the Premier League in 1993, followed by the Football League in 1999.
The only player to have played regularly wearing the number 29 was Che Wilson, who made 37 league appearances during the 2000–01 season, and who accounts for approximately three quarters of all the appearances of this jersey. Only one player has ever scored in the number 29 shirt and that was Josh Klein-Davies, whose sole goal was in a 3–2 defeat at home to Huddersfield Town on 22 March 2008.
