The reserve team did not compete in a league during the 2008-09 season, having withdrawn from the Pontins Holidays Combination at the end of the previous campaign. The team instead will play a number of specially arranged friendly fixtures, which are detailed below.

The reserves were entered into the Gloucestershire Senior Challenge Cup, where they were given a first-round bye and started the competition at the quarter-final stage, and were drawn against pre-season opponents Yate Town.

  1. Rovers were unable to field a team on the original date of 9th December due to a number of players being loaned out, injuries to first team players and a clash of fixtures with the under-18s taking part in the FA Youth Cup
